About the role

Assist and be trained in the clinical management of Haematology and bone marrow transplant inpatient and out-patient. The Advanced Trainee will assist, be trained in diagnostic and laboratory investigation of such patients and their blood and tissue samples as regards to Haematologic services.  The patient base covered is CMN, Hunter New England Local Health District and the Hunter Division (HAPS) of Pathology North.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administration of chemotherapy, immunotherapy and blood product, and monitoring their safe usage.
  • Management of pre and post autologous BMT patients and post allogenic BMT patients.
  • Willingness to work in a combined clinical and diagnostic laboratory unit.
  • Complies with Occupational Health and Safety policies and demonstrates knowledge of changes.
  • Maintains personal immunisation/screening records in accordance with Department of Health requirements.
  • Able to demonstrate awareness of Culturally & Linguistically Diverse (CALD) Groups.

What you bring 

  • A minimum of 3 years hospital based training.
  • For clinical trainees and joint clinical/laboratory trainees, applicants should have obtained or be enrolled for the Part 1 FRACP.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Haematology Advanced Training Program.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgement and expertise and demonstrated teamwork, time management and problem solving skills as part of a multidisciplinary team. 
  • A desire to join a team committed to the care of others in a mission based organisation
