About the role

Calvary have new roles working in a great team environment to support Calvary's Aged Care Homes in Victoria and Tasmania, to implement a Respiratory Protection program. A Fit Tester assesses whether a respirator forms an adequate seal on the wearers face to ensure the wearer is receiving sufficient protection against contaminants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement Fit Testing as outlined in Calvary’s Respiratory Protection Policy and Implementation Guide.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the principles of quantitative (and qualitative) fit testing methodology and its application in a healthcare setting.
  • Have a good understanding of the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Reusable Protective Devices (RPDs) in airborne precautions and the fit checking process. 
  • Provide advice on mask selection, application, fitting and availability and demonstrated ability to identify likely causes of a ‘failed’ fit test such as facial hair or anatomy and trouble shoot accordingly.
  • Undertake respiratory mask fit testing, meeting the requirements of the Australian Standard, relevant state Departments of Health, other applicable Regulatory bodies  and Calvary (theoretical and practical training will be provided).

  • Demonstrated skills to effectively organise and plan in line with frameworks and methodologies required to implement a respiratory protection program
  • Demonstrated ability to consistently apply a methodology to achieve a high quality and consistent approach to respiratory mask fit testing.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Good people management, coaching and influencing skills
  • Excellent ability to plan and prioritise
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Proven data management / reporting capability and proficient computer skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously
  • A current Victorian Drivers License
  • A desire to join a team committed to the care of others in a mission based organisation
