About the role

The Clinical Nurse Consultant provides expert clinical advice to patients, carers and other health care professionals within a defined specialty. The clinical nurse consultant develops, facilitates implementation and evaluates care management plans for patients with complex health needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides ongoing comprehensive analyses of current practice and the impact of new directions on the clinical specialty service.
  • Initiates develop implements and evaluate strategic changes for the clinical specialty/service.
  • Acts as a role model as an expert clinician in the clinical setting.
  • Provides leadership in the ongoing review of clinical practice at facility or area health service level as required.
  • Provides leadership in the ongoing review of clinical practice for a more complex service ie. a service provided at multiple sites or by multiple CNCs across an area health service.

What you bring 

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clinical concepts and information to non-clinical audiences and provide authoritative advice on clinical issues within field of expertise
  • Demonstrated advanced analytical and problem solving ability to break down complex problems and develop a range of solutions based on specialist expert knowledge of Oncology.
  • Demonstrated capacity to evaluate current clinical practice within oncology and recommend improvements to avoid potential problems or minimise impacts on the organisation.
  • A desire to join a team committed to the care of others in a mission based organisation

The Calvary Mater Newcastle is an Affiliated Health Organisation providing services to both public and private patients primarily from the Hunter New England area. Current employees of NSW Health can request to have various leave entitlement balances transferred to Calvary Mater Newcastle on commencement.
