About the role
We are seeking a Career Medical Officer to join our emergency department with a difference. As a Career Medical Officer, you will be responsible for the provision of safe, effective and appropriate patient centred medical care in a team based emergency department. At Calvary Mater Newcastle, the main point of difference for our emergency department is specialised focus on general medicine, oncology and haematology, palliative care, psychiatric and clinical toxicology presentations.
If you are seeking a position as a Career Medical Officer, working in a team who understands the complexity of balancing work and personal priorities, then this is the position for you. We are open to providing you with flexibility around your working hours, whether it is part time, weekends only, short shifts or school hours. We are also flexible to focus on your professional areas of interest such as seeing main patients and resuscitation level patients or only seeing the ambulatory care/fast track type patient or working primarily in our short stay ward managing short term emergency department admitted patients and discharge planning. There is room to expand on some non-clinical projects for the right candidate.

The Calvary Mater Newcastle is an Affiliated Health Organisation providing services to both public and private patients primarily from the Hunter New England area. Current employees of NSW Health can request to have various leave entitlement balances transferred to Calvary Mater Newcastle on commencement. Leave types may include but not limited to Long Service Leave, Annual Leave and Sick Leave. Applicants are encouraged to discuss this with the Convenor for further information.
