About the role

The purpose of this role is to develop and deliver workshops, training programs and activities that support client centred care and support service delivery requirements and promote skill and capability development.

The Clinical Educator will provide assistance in overview of design, development, coordination, delivery and evaluation of education related to clinical practice in clinical care where requested at Calvary  services, coordinate the mandatory training requirements for staff and be responsible for the credentialing of Support Workers as required, completing required documentation post training

The Clinical Educator will ensure that educational and other strategies reflect clinical evidenced based best practice and are aligned with agreed workforce development KPI’s. This will be achieved by establishing educational partnerships with internal Calvary key personnel and external stakeholders including managers, clinicians, education staff, suppliers and relevant professional organisations.

The Clinical Educator will act as a mentor, coach for all new and current clinicians and Support Workers and play a key role in the delivery of quality clinical services and client care.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Using adult learning principles, plan, prepare and deliver short courses, workshops, blended learning programs and resources that align with targeted learning outcomes.
  • Coordinate the annual mandatory training programs for employees
  • Undertaking competency assessments, monitoring progress and providing feedback pertaining to education achievement or individual needs as required.
  • Participate in credentialing of Support Workers as required, completing required documentation post training.
  • Assist in the development, implementation and review of training and assessment strategies, materials to support skill and capability development ensuring assessing tools are relevant and valid.
  • Provide feedback to learners and Managers on capability assessment outcomes, follow up and follow through on agreed actions to facilitate sign on competency.
  • Deliver client focused training plans that cater for, and meet, business needs and ensures the delivery of quality client centred services.
  • Support the Learning Delivery Manager to implement processes, systems and frameworks that align with best practice and National Standards.
  • Support and assist those responsible for people development to ensure consistency and apply adult learning principles to facilitating, learning and assessment through effective pedagogy.
  • Enable all relevant employees to achieve expertise in the use of e-learning by providing coaching and training where required.
  • Ensure programs and learning resources are current, regularly review and maintained in partnership, where applicable, with subject matter experts.
  • Incorporating evidence based practice in clinical teaching.
  • Engaging in reflective practice to improve teaching and nursing practice outcomes and participating in clinical policy and procedure development.
  • Maintaining secure records storage and timely entry of data.

What you bring 

Essential

  • Current unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA).
  • Demonstrated ability to implement and evaluate clinical education within a community or acute health care setting and provide support and guidance to ensure an appropriately skilled and qualified nursing workforce, working within appropriate models of care.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to work in a consultative manner and to supervise other educators and trainers.
  • Unrestricted drivers licence.
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE)

Desirable

  • Relevant post graduate qualifications in clinical area and/or education
  • Previous experience in education
