Clinical Fellow – Breast, Oncoplastic and Melanoma Surgery

  • Remuneration: $53.82 – $67.49 per hour
  • Temporary Full Time – 12 month contract until January 2024

About the role

The Fellow for breast, oncolplastic and melanoma surgery provides comprehensive care, management and co-ordination of patients within Surgical Services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in the development and execution of innovative programs in both the delivery of care and clinical training
  • Maintain professional body membership
  • Facilitate the promotion of clinical research.
  • Participating in the development and implementation of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programs in liaison with colleagues, the University of Newcastle and other learned bodies and colleges.
  • Supervising and teaching Junior Medical Officers and   SET Trainees rotating through the Department of surgery.

What you bring 

  • A Primary Medical Degree registrable with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) with Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons or other relevant specialist recognition
  • Experience and qualification(s) in General Surgery and Emergency General Surgery.
  • Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated capability to negotiate and implement change.
  • Demonstrated ability to work proficiently and in an organised manner as a member of a multidisciplinary team and unsupervised in periods of high demand and activity.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach from undergraduate to postgraduate level with commitment to own personal and professional development.
  • Interest in Breast and melanoma Surgery
  • Established track record in research.
  • Commitment to the Mission, Vision and Values of Calvary and the ability and desire to uphold these at all times.

Desirable Criteria

  • Post FRACS experience in General Surgery 
  • Demonstrated experience in Breast and Melanoma Surgery.
  • A desire to join a team committed to the care of others in a mission based organisation
