 About the role

The Clinical Nurse is responsible for providing safe, effective and appropriate patient care in a patient-focused environment.

The Clinical Nurse will:-

  • Take responsibility to ensure all aspects of patient care services are of the highest standard.
  • Take a key role in the leadership of the unit, be an accountable and autonomous nurse; act in the best interests of patients at all times and take personal responsibility for own actions and decisions.
  • Be responsible for patient assessment, planning of care, giving and supervising safe and compassionate care, and evaluating the effectiveness of care.

This direct leadership role will see you leading and supporting our team members and reporting to the Clinical Manager.

You will be joining a team of passionate professionals driven to provide safe, holistic nursing care to each individual patient to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

This very exciting opportunity for an experienced Recovery nurse to join us @ CCDH, at a time in which we are growing our services in preparation for the opening of our new hospital in 2025.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement, evaluate and lead peri-operative nursing care in collaboration with individuals and the multidisciplinary health care team, to achieve goals and positive health outcomes.

What you bring 

The successful candidate will bring the following to the position:

  • Post Graduate Qualification in Recovery Nursing (Not essential)
  • Recent Clinical experience in Recovery Nursing
  • AHPRA Registration
  • Ability to work unsupervised, proficiently and in an organised manner during periods of high demand and activity, providing Clinical Leadership
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a leadership team,  provide  support and mentorship
  • Demonstrated communication, interpersonal skills and customer service skills
  • A desire to join a team committed to the care of others in a mission based organisation
  • A desire to share your experiences and participate in the future growth and development of the unit, and assist in the education to staff within the Peri-operative Unit.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and quality improvements
  • A strong work ethic, positive attitude and willingness to role model and promote the values of Calvary Healthcare.
  • Ensure the adherence of clinical standards and application of principles of best practice, to maximise high quality patient outcomes.
  • Follow defined service quality standards, occupational health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
  • Support the transition of new nurses into the organisation and nursing workforce
  • Assist in identifying and facilitating departmental learning needs
  • Provide ‘hands on’ clinical support
  • Provide feedback on work performance, assess clinical competence
  • Enhance nursing professional development
  • Promote evidence based practice
  • Work within the team to achieve goals established by the departmental management team.
  • Ability to work a 6 day rotating roster, and participate in the On-Call roster.
  • Support Clinical Manager in daily operational procedures
