Medical Oncology Clinical Trial Fellow for 2023

About the Role
As a Medical Oncology Clinical Fellow/s at the Calvary Mater Newcastle, you will be joining one of the busiest clinical trial units in New South Wales. The unit currently has more than 50 actively recruiting clinical trials spanning Phase I to IV trials in numerous tumour streams, including breast, GI, GU, H&N, lung, CNS, skin and melanoma. The role will primarily support the clinical trial activities of the Medical Oncology Department through close interaction with treating staff specialists, clinical trial coordinators, sponsor representatives, and nursing. The unit prides itself on the provision of exemplary clinical research by a collaborative team, and has been involved in practice changing studies.
Additional opportunities for the professional development of fellows include undertaking clinical research projects, preparation of publications, and participation in local and regional caner research committees. There are also local opportunities for post graduate studies, including PhD and Clinical Epidemiology through the Hunter Medical Research Institute and University of Newcastle. Fellows who have received RACP Fellowship may participate in the provision of independent general Medical Oncology services under the supervision of a clinical mentor as part of transitioning to unsupervised consultant practice.
Pay scale is as per the NSW Medical Officers Award with those candidates who have successfully obtained Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians being paid as Senior Registrars.

The Calvary Mater Newcastle is an Affiliated Health Organisation providing services to both public and private patients primarily from the Hunter New England area. Current employees of NSW Health can request to have various leave entitlement balances transferred to Calvary Mater Newcastle on commencement.
