About the role

Bruce Private is seeking a dynamic and innovative senior clinical leader as our Director of Clinical Services (DCS) who will manage the operational and strategic direction of clinical services throughout our Hospital. The role will foster strong relationships through the provision of comprehensive clinical guidance and leadership to clinical mangers to ensure that the hospital achieves consistent high quality healthcare outcomes and an efficient clinical service that meets all aspects of financial, strategic and operational objectives. The DCS will drive support and growth of the workforce and organisation through leadership, innovation, foresight, commercial awareness, and collaboration along with the ability to simultaneously manage day to day clinical operations.

What you bring 


  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
  • Minimum of 10 years relevant clinical experience with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in hospital management.
  • Demonstrated skills in hospital operations including patient flow, bed management, and staffing.
  • Strong leadership capabilities with a track record in effectively managing and developing staff and building/sustaining teams.
  • A comprehensive knowledge of hospital administration procedures, clinical governance and other quality related activities.
  • Strong understanding of health funding and associated models (particularly rehabilitation and mental health).
  • High level of business acumen.
  • Personal maturity and strength of character to successfully grow within a dynamic organisation.
  • Collaborative interpersonal communication skills with well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Human Resources, Industrial Relation Acts, regulations and other statutory obligations.
  • Proficient with the use of computers and experience with electronic data systems/applications.
  • COVID-19 vaccination is a mandatory requirement unless assessed exempt.


  • Previous experience as a Director of Clinical Services or Director of Nursing within the private hospital environment.
  • Post-graduate qualifications in Health Management, Master of Business Administration (or equivalent) or currently undertaking studies.
