About the role:

This is an unprecedented opportunity to join the Calvary Public Hospital Bruce (CPHB) Executive to grow and shape the future of healthcare in the ACT. Calvary's growth strategy is centred on expanding and providing excellent, patient focused, integrated health services.

 

As the Executive Director, Medical Services – Chief Medical Officer you will provide exceptional advice and support to the General Manager and the broader executive team. You understand that CPHB’s success is your number one key performance indicator and you  will drive a program of process improvement and change.

 

CBHP is committed to high quality and responsive patient care. Together with the General Manager you will be focussed on assurance of compliance with professional standards, credentialing and code of practice, facilitating contemporary practice, models of care and performance guidance to achieve best practice.  You, and your team will maintain strong relationships and work collaboratively with the Executive, Regional team, Calvary National and ACT Government to realise strategic opportunities aligned to the Calvary Growth Strategy, Calvary Strategic Intent and ACT Government priorities.

 

Key Accountabilities include:

  • Lead the clinical workforce to enhance contemporary safe practice, innovative models of care and service growth
  • Ensure CPHB meets its responsibilities to provide clinical experience, mentor support and professional development for pre and post graduate clinical education and the broader medical workforce 
  • Ensure that Clinical Governance and quality/safety are embedded within everyday practice for all associated clinical professionals
  • Governance and management of credentialing processes and scope of practice for medical practitioners in accordance with the role delineation of CPHB
  • Facilitate a culture of ethics and research in accordance with Catholic Health Care Ethical Standards in partnership with other professional groups to progress innovation in clinical practice, teaching and service development/growth
  • Lead a culture of workforce engagement including strategies to support retention and professional development of the workforce
  • Representing CPHB with relevant Government authorities, partners, and key stakeholders relevant to the profession and portfolio
  • Management and reporting of key performance indicators within target and initiate strategies to improve performance
  • Management of workforce recruitment and selection, professional development and performance management  
  • Management of allocated budget and resources in accordance with budget parameters

 

What you bring 

To be considered for this position, you will be a strong people leader who demonstrates extensive experience at a senior management or executive level.

You have current professional registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) in a relevant professional discipline and extensive experience as well as tertiary qualifications in medical administration, or you are working towards them.

Your ability to engage others and embrace organisational change is critical as you shape practice and process by your detailed knowledge of the strategic and operational issues facing the local, regional and national health systems.

You will also be expected to gain and maintain a security clearance at the required level.
