About the role

Calvary John James Hospital runs the Calvary OnePlus Graduate Transition Program (GNTP), a national program that supports the development of clinical practice and promotes the transfer of knowledge, skills and behaviour for life-long learning. Through support and reflection, the program will empower you to make well-informed evidence-based decisions. This twelve month practice-based program enables graduates to learn essential skills in a supportive environment. It is aligned with Calvary’s values of Hospitality, Healing, Stewardship and Respect and recognises the worth of the individual, acknowledges talents and skills by providing support, education and mentoring to foster an atmosphere of ’Being for Others’.

Our Graduate Transition Program has been designed to develop you into a competent and confident Registered Midwife, facilitate your professional adjustment to the workforce and to develop a commitment to a career in midwifery. This program will consist of rotations through post-natal and birth suite, with an option for time in the Special Care Nursery.

You will be provided with:

  • A New Graduate coordinator will support you through the 12 month program
  • 2 Graduate study days
  • Dedicated education sessions
  • Supernumerary shifts on each rotation


What you bring

  • Registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Midwife
  • Demonstrated effective communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously as well as a member of a multidisciplinary team.

Demonstrated ability to utilise the Midwifery Process in the provision of safe, evidence based care in an acute care environment
