About the role

An exciting opportunity exists for a skilled multi-tasker to join the supply team at our growing hospital as the Purchasing Officer. As the purchasing officer, you will carry out a range of tasks which may include conducting research on potential vendors and suppliers, inspecting goods, and updating records as well as negotiating pricing and transport costs.    

Our Supply team are our champions of stewardship. They’re dedicated to continuously refining efficiency and improving quality and stability. They provide a vital service that allows our healthcare professionals to do their jobs.

What you bring 

Essential:

• Valid Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) Registration or ability to obtain before commencement.
• Experience working in a purchasing role, with demonstrated knowledge of supply practices.
• Knowledge and use of computerised inventory systems and understanding of inventory management.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Communication and interpersonal skills including demonstrated experience in liaising with a wide range of internal and external clients.
• Good numeracy and data analysis skills.
• COVID-19 vaccination is a mandatory requirement unless assessed exempt.

Highly Desirable:

• Previous purchasing experience in a hospital setting.
• Knowledge of medical products.
• Experience using Finance One.
• Knowledge of accounting and internal business practices.
