 About the role

With approximately 100 births a month the Maternity unit at Calvary John James Hospital is busy to say the least. We are looking for Registered Midwives to join our passionate, dedicated and patient-focused team consisting of a full time Clinical Development Nurse and two Nurse Unit Managers.  If you are a registered Midwife eager to work in a collaborative and friendly maternity care team focused on putting the patients and their care first we would love to hear from you.

What sets us apart?

Being a Private hospital our patients are able to stay longer with us (5 days) post birth which allows you to spend more time supporting the family in those very important first few days, and really focus on the care of mum and bub. Within our Maternity unit you will have the opportunity to perform deliveries and assist with Caesareans, both elective and emergency. On a rotating roster you have the opportunity to alternate through Post-natal Unit (24 beds), Birthing suite and Special Care Nursery (10 cots). Parameters exist but our patients may have the choice of obstetrician, adding to that enhanced experience we strive for our patients.

You can come and join us in a permanent, casual, full or part time capacity. We are open to working with you in a manner that supports you and our service delivery.

What you bring 

Show us your passion for Midwifery and caring for women and their families. You will have the ability to work unsupervised, proficiently and in an organised manner during periods of high demand and activity. You will work effectively as a member of a multi-disciplinary and highly committed team in a mission based organisation. Part of your provision of care includes your demonstrated ability to communicate with your Nursing Unit Manager and your patients, having strong interpersonal and customer focused skills, this extends to the larger team and organisation. Willingness to mentor junior nursing staff, support and promote the policies and practices of Calvary

Our Midwives are supported by the Midwifery education team including a full-time Clinical Development Nurse and 2 Nurse Unit Managers.
