 About the role

The Transition to Specialty Nursing Practice cancer care program gives the Registered Nurse with the opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge to ensure the delivery of a high standard of practice to the cancer patient. The program will be conducted over a 12 month period with rotation into 4 distinct cancer services (inpatient oncology, inpatient haematology, outpatient chemotherapy and palliative care) and will comprise both theoretical and clinical components.   

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan appropriate care in consultation with patient and the multidisciplinary team
  • Prioritise and implement planned care to achieve expected outcomes of established priorities
  • Evaluate patient progress and revise nursing interventions where required
  • Complete accurate documentation of nursing care and patient’s progress in medical records and communicate to other team members
  • Completion of all rotations and assessment items as per the program  

What you bring 

  • Registered Nurse with current Authority to Practice with AHPRA
  • Completed minimum one year post graduate nursing experience
  • Demonstrated desire to further education in cancer nursing
  • Demonstrated commitment to own personal and professional development
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstrated communication, interpersonal skills and customer service skills
  • Commitment to the mission, vision and values of Calvary as it applies to the Hospital and the ability and desire to uphold these principles
