Our program has been designed to assist Registered Nurses fulfil professional development goals during the transition phase from Generalist Nurse to Specialist Acute Care and General Medicine Nurse.

 About the role

The Acute Care Transitional Rotation Program is aimed at nurses who have completed a minimum one year post graduate nursing experience and who have a genuine interest in Acute Care nursing, specifically General Medicine and Coronary Care. The program has been designed to assist registered nurses with their professional development during the transition phase from generalist nurse to specialist Acute Care Nurse.

You will develop your clinical skills during the program such as: advanced life support certification, cannulation, venepuncture, cardiac monitoring, and management of central venous access devices, including dressing change, removal and blood collection.

Throughout the program you will receive extensive clinical support by a dedicated Clinical Nurse Educator and a number of Clinical Nurse Specialists.

Key Responsibilities

  • Rotations through 3 acute care services learning both theoretical and clinical components.
  • Plan appropriate care in consultation with patient and the multidisciplinary team
  • Prioritise and implement planned care to achieve expected outcomes of established priorities
  • Evaluate patient progress and revise nursing interventions where required
  • Complete accurate documentation of nursing care and patient’s progress in medical records and communicate to other team members
  • Completion of all rotations and assessment items as per the program

  • AHPRA Registration
  • Demonstrated desire to further education in Acute Care Nursing
  • Ability to work unsupervised, proficiently and in an organised manner during periods of high demand and activity
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstrated communication, interpersonal skills and customer service skills
  • A desire to join a team committed to the care of others in a mission based organisation
