Senior Medical Registrar

Fixed Term Full Time Position

Salary: $158,634 (Plus Super)

About the role 

At Calvary Public Hospital Bruce we’re looking for a Senior Medical Registrar (SMR) who has a passion and interest in training in interest in training in adult internal medicine. The Senior Medical Registrar position provides coordination of the care of General Medicine patients and provides oversight of the General Medicine teams at Calvary. The Calvary Division of Medicine comprises five general medicine teams and sub-specialty departments including Cardiology, Stroke Unit, Medical Assessment and Planning Unit. 

Trainees will have access to Outpatient in the subspecialties of Infectious Disease, Neurology, Cardiology, Endocrinology, Respiratory, Renal and Geriatric Medicine. Training in gastrointestinal endoscopic procedures can be arranged.

Trainee medical registrars include 10 basic physician trainees and advanced trainees in General Medicine, Neurology, and Cardiology. The SMR is the most senior trainee position within the Division and has clinical, administrative, teaching and research responsibilities. The SMR has primary responsibility in organising the FRACP clinical exams under the supervision of the Regional examiner. Appointees will work under the guidance of the Physician Training Committee (PTC), the Director of Medical Services, the Director of Physician Education, and the Head of their chosen sub-specialty department.


What you bring  

  • Your passion and skill which is shown in your full registration/eligible registration as a medical practitioner with the AHPRA.
  • Recent completion, or be in the final years of advanced training for the fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP);
  • Familiarity with RACP requirements for physician training; and
  • An understanding of the evolving landscape of postgraduate training in Internal Medicine in Australasia would be an advantage
  • Your knowledge and willingness to learn more. This is the opportunity for you to put your postgraduate experience in  a Medical care setting
  • Proven competence in applying Medical knowledge and sound judgement in clinical diagnosis, investigation and treatment of patients
  • Your customer focused team skills teamed with your excellent teamwork skills in a multidisciplinary team.
