About the role
The Director of Intensive Care is responsible for the delivery of medical services to patients in the Intensive Care Unit. The Director engages with nursing, allied health, support and medical staff to ensure that safe, expert and compassionate care is delivered to critically ill patients.
The Director provides professional supervision and direction to the ICU senior and junior medical staff. The Director has a central role in the teaching and training of all medical staff in the unit and contributes to the teaching of medical students from the ANU Medical school.
Your main duties will include:
Provide expertise and apply medical knowledge and experience in the diagnosis, investigation and treatment of critically ill patients
Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to strengthen relationships between units and enhance flow and appropriate disposition of patients
Provide direction for and contribute to evidence based policy development, planning and clinical standards for the ICU department
Represent Calvary at ICU department related meetings and committees at an organisational and territory level
Monitor ICU services to maintain ethical and professional standards and currency of professional knowledge and practice
About you
COVID-19 vaccination is a mandatory requirement unless assessed exempt
Registered or registrable as a Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
Fellowship of the College of Intensive Care Medicine or equivalent
Experience in successfully leading a multidisciplinary Intensive Care unit.
High level clinical skills and expertise and a demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development.
