About the role

The Specialist Palliative Care Service at Clare Holland House (CHH) provides Tertiary Level Palliative Care to the people of the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) and surrounding district. This Palliative Care Staff specialist position will be responsible for providing clinical care and leadership, covering community palliative care.

The role is a temporary position for 6 months, commencing March 2023, working Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays with participation in the afterhours on-call roster.

Your main duties will include:

  • Work within the 22 bed inpatient unit, Community Palliative Care Service, Palliative Care Outpatient Service, Hospital Consultancy Services at Canberra and Calvary Hospitals. 
  • Provides evidence based clinical leadership in the care of cancer and non-cancer patient groups.
  • Provides clinical support and supervision for Nurse Practitioner(s) at Clare Holland House and the Aged Care Clinical Nurse Consultant at Clare Holland House as required.
  • Supervise any other Junior Medical Officer (JMO) on rotation.
  • Manages critical incidents as per delegated authority.
  • Participate in the after-hours on-call roster.

About you

  • Registration with AHPRA
  • Current FACHPM or equivalent
  • Demonstrated current clinical practice of a high standard and the ability to provide specialist palliative clinical care to patients within a specialist inpatient unit, community and hospital consultancy services.
  • Demonstrated ability in providing clinical leadership within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated involvement in undergraduate and postgraduate Palliative Care training.
  • Preparedness to participate in any on-call service including on-call rosters.
