About the role

The Social Work Department are recruiting for an Allied Health Assistant to complement and enhance the work being done by social workers across the hospital. 

This is a new role, initially on a 6 month contract with the potential for ongoing and permanent roles subject to performance outcomes and ongoing funding. This is a fulltime position and job share will be considered).  In this position you will work under limited supervision to implement social work interventions and work with multi-disciplinary teams.  Your caseload will primarily be medical and surgical inpatients.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement social work interventions including external referrals, provision of practical supports or information as directed by a Social Worker
• Perform administrative tasks as required including developing team resources and taking minutes at case conferences and family meetings.
• Operate a variety of Microsoft and Business applications including Excel, Word and Outlook  
• Implement social work intake processes in the Digital Health Record
• Assist in the completion and submission of documentation for Guardianship hearings, NDIS and Residential Aged Care applications       

What you bring 

• Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance (or recognised equivalent) 
• A valid Australian drivers licence or overseas licence recognised in Australia  
• Demonstrated aptitude for work in a healthcare environment
• Strong organisational skills and a strong work ethic
• Demonstrated ability to be innovative, resourceful and adaptive to change
• Ability to build relationships with all stakeholders
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficient in use of Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Word, Excel
• A desire to join a team committed to the care of others in a mission based organisation
