About the role
Based at Calvary Kooyong in Caulfield South, Calvary Healthcare Bethlehem is a leading provider of specialist services for people living with progressive neurological diseases and those needing palliative care. Services include an inpatient ward, Community Palliative Care Service, State Wide Progressive Neurological Diseases Service, CHSP and NDIS Provider service.
You will work primarily in our Community Palliative Care Service (CPCS) primarily, providing home-based Occupational Therapy to support people living with a life-limiting illness and their family and friends. Occupational Therapy service provision supports symptom management and improving quality of life through advice on comfort and positioning, fatigue management, falls prevention, pressure injury prevention and management of pressure injuries, prescription of assistive technology, education to carers and paid workers about how to provide care in the daily routine and at end of life (for example, bed-based care). You are part of a multidisciplinary team including nurses, medical consultant, social worker, physiotherapist, music therapist and bereavement support staff to support people with their goals and to improve their quality of life.
You will provide supervision and leadership to the grade 2 OT in the CPCS team and lead the OT palliative service stream across the Bethlehem service streams, including the inpatient unit. All OT staff are required to support leave cover in other streams in the department when required to manage periods of leave and staffing gaps.
