About the role
The Allied Health assistant works with medical, nursing and other allied health specialities to ensure a high quality multidisciplinary approach to patient care. The Physiotherapy Assistant’s primary purpose is to provide assistance and support to physiotherapists in the provision of effective and efficient physiotherapy services as part of the multidisciplinary team.
This position is casual and involves a 7 day a week coverage within the Rehabilitation Service. Hours of work range across 4-8 hour shifts and may also involve leave coverage
Your main duties will include:
Provide quality physiotherapy assessments and interventions through client-focused care in line with evidence-based practice
Monitor and evaluate progress and outcomes of plans and initiate appropriate follow up.
Maintain clinical notes as per medical documentation standards and policies
Attend and contribute to multi-disciplinary team and family meetings as required
Liaise with other multi-disciplinary team members ensuring a collaborative approach to care
Contribute to discharge planning process in order to ensuring safe and timely discharge
Refer to and liaise with community services ensuring patients are appropriately linked in to necessary support agencies
About you
Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance
Clinical experience in an acute Allied Health team
Ability to work in a self-directed manner and with all categories of staff
Ability to prioritise work, meet deadlines and to delegate appropriately
Initiative and organisational skills
High standard of clinical and professional practice
Excellent teamwork and patient skills
Effective communication both verbal and written
Knowledge and understanding of customer service culture in healthcare
