About the role
The Chef is responsible for planning and the preparation of meals, while ensuring the individual needs of residents are being met and makes certain that each resident is offered choice. The Chef ensures all meals are prepared in line with care plans, nutritional guidelines, Calvary National Choice Menu, Calvary National Dining and Nutrition Guide and relevant legislation.
The position of Chef is part of an integrated team of people working within an established and agreed framework supporting the resident to live their best life.
Your main duties will include:
Plans, prepares and oversees the preparation of daily meals and beverages for residents that meets the individual needs of residents including special dietary requirements, allergies and culturally specific requirement
Maintains high levels of satisfaction with food services within the home by ensuring all meals prepared and served are fresh, well presented, appetising and aromatic.
Accountable for ensuring residents IDDSI, special dietary requirements, allergies and culturally specific meals are catered for.
About you
TAFE Hospitality (Commercial Cookery) or Certificate Level III in Food Studies (or working towards)
Experience in bulk cooking and food preparation
Knowledge of IDDSI and nutritional guidelines
Ability to plan menus to meet standards e.g. Food Act and Occupational Health and Safety.
Ability to order food to meet requirements of menu cycle and keep within budget
Understanding of infection control and safety principles
Ability to safely operate kitchen equipment, e.g. stoves, ovens etc.
Completion of (HLTFSE001 – Follow Basic Food Safety Practices) or willingness to obtain
