About the role

The Infection Control and Staff Health Coordinator will be responsible for providing professional and operational leadership and management and advice to Calvary Bruce Private Hospital and Hyson Green, in relation to Infection prevention control and staff health to ensure high standards of infection prevention and control practices which result in positive patient outcomes and a safe environment for patients, visitors and staff.

The Infection Control and Staff Health Coordinator will also be responsible for providing advice and strategic guidance to the health service Executive team and maintaining relevant accreditation standards relating to Infection prevention control and staff health.

What you bring 

Mandatory:

• Registered Nurse with extensive post-graduation experience (five years +)
• Registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Registration Agency (AHPRA) Bachelor of Nursing Degree or equivalent
• Relevant qualification in Infection Control Practice
• Demonstrated knowledge of HICMR, ACHS, quality improvement and risk management
• Evidence of completion or enrolment to complete:
• Course in Immunisation Fundamentals for Health Care Workers
• Course for the Management of Occupational Exposures to blood and body fluids 
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of infectious agent health screening and immunisation of healthcare workers
• Highly developed skills in communication (verbal, written and IT), problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation
• An ability to demonstrate leadership skills, work as part of the team, perform effectively under pressure and prioritize workloads
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of NSQHSS Standard 3

Highly desirable:

• Current membership of the Australasian College for Infection Prevention & Control (ACIPC)
