Due to the creation of our Newly Centralised Coding Model, we are looking for highly proficient and experienced Clinical Coders to join our nation team on a permanent basis.

We are looking for experienced Coders with an interest in coding a vast Casemix across all Private Hospitals within Calvary healthcare.  The role will be predominantly Clinical Coding with opportunities to participate in coding quality and education activities.

We currently have Permanent Clinical Coder hybrid positions available to support the Calvary Hospitals.  The position will join the National Coding Team, reporting directly to the National Health Information Manager and into the National Revenue Team.

Main Duties

  • Accurately coding episodes using ICD-10-AM in accordance with Australian Coding Standards and relevant state and national advice.
  • Ensuring all coding is completed in a timely manner, in accordance with internal and external.   
  • Participate in documentation improvement and revenue optimisation activities.
  • Participate in Coding audit activities as required.

About you

  • Bachelor of Applied Science (Health Information Management) or equivalent tertiary qualification; or Completion of approved HIMAA course in ICD-10-AM intermediate coding.
  • Experience and demonstrated excellence in Clinical Coding using ICD-10-AM Classification system across broad Casemix for a period of at least 3 years is essential and experience in a hospital or health care setting is desirable.
  • Strong Computer literacy
  • Ability to effectively prioritise and work to tight deadlines.
  • Proven ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Commitment to the mission, vision and values of Calvary.
  • Desirable: Experience with the private health sector funding and billing requirements.
