  • Fixed Term, Part-Time contract until January 2026 (48 hours per fortnight)
  • Salary Classification: Registered Nurse, 1st - 8th Year
  • Remuneration: $36.38 - $51.08 per hour + superannuation + annual leave loading + salary packaging options 

THE ROLE:

The Haematology Team Leader is responsible for ensuring the provision of safe, effective and appropriate patient care in a patient-focused environment for haematology inpatients, including leading and liaising with all members of the multidisciplinary team. The Team leader is responsible for the supervision and support of Haematology ward staff, including new staff, casual staff and agency nurses. The Team leader is also responsible for staff education, and the facilitation of assessments of clinical competencies’ when required.  

DUTIES:

  • Provide leadership and management on the ward, and be able to represent NUM when required.
  • Provide support for co-workers, preceptor staff and act as resource person for all aspects of haematology nursing.
  • Ensure care is coordinated in consultation with patient and multidisciplinary team to achieve best possible outcomes.
  • Prioritise and implement planned care to achieve expected outcomes of established priorities
  • Identify and implement discharge-planning requirements.
  • Perform comprehensive and accurate nursing assessment of patients.
  • Evaluate patient progress and revise nursing interventions where required.
  • Complete accurate documentation of nursing care and patient’s progress in patient’s medical record and communicate to other team members.

ABOUT YOU:

  • Demonstrated extensive experience in acute haematology nursing, including chemotherapy administration.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively exercise leadership and work in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Leadership, supervision and support for all staff including new, casual and agency nurses.
  • Ensure care is coordinated to achieve the best possible outcomes for the patient.
  • Ensure discharge planning processes are in place and communicated effectively across the team and that all aspects of the EPJB are updated, managed and revised as appropriate.
  • The ability to fairly delegate work amongst team members while making assessments on skill mix, acuity and provide clinical support and guidance to the team.
  • Represent the NUM where required.
  • Demonstrate the ability and importance of professional conduct at all times, and the ability to develop therapeutic professional and respectful relationships across the team
