Registered Nurses General Medicine

  • Full Time, Part Time or Casual opportunities available
  • Option to rotate through wards

What we do:

Our General Medicine wards provide high quality care for patients experiencing a range of complex medical conditions. As a Registered Nurse you will provide care to patients with acute and post-acute stroke management, complex respiratory conditions, sepsis, renal failure, gastroenterology, toxicology, eating disorders, as well as outliers from our medical oncology and haematology departments. 

As a Registered Nurse, you will provide high-quality, safe, people-focused care to those assigned to you. You will have highly developed interpersonal and sound communication skills, both verbal and written. You will have experience in an acute care setting, with a focus on general medicine.

What you bring (selection criteria): 

  • A genuine interest in caring for patients in a General Medicine ward.
  • Registered Nurse authorised to practise by (AHPRA).
  • Demonstrated recent clinical experience in an acute care and/or hospital setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.

What do we offer?

  • Option to rotate between both General Medicine wards to further develop skills and experience.
  • Supported professional development with a Clinical Nurse Educator for any recent graduates or to experienced Registered Nurses new to acute care.
  • Remuneration is in line with NSW Health Classification: Registered Nurse Year 1-8. $35.32 - $49.60 per hour, excluding applicable loadings.

NSW Health employees can request to have various leave entitlement balances transferred to Calvary Mater Newcastle. Leave types may include but not limited to Long Service Leave, Annual Leave and Sick Leave. Applicants are encouraged to discuss this with the Convenor for further information.
