Hours and days of work negotiable for the preferred candidate

  • Full Time and Part Time positions considered.
  • Salary Classification: Pharmacist Grade 1 or Grade 2 - pending experience 
  • Remuneration: $1,588.33 - $2,206.72 per week + superannuation + salary packaging options + leave loading 

About the role

The provision of high-quality pharmacy services to Calvary Mater Newcastle (CMN) staff, patients, and carers is in accordance with SHPA standards of practice. This role is responsible for promoting safe and appropriate medication usage to optimise patient outcomes and the provision of pharmaceutical services for the facility as directed.

The key areas of focus for this role are

  • Provision of a ward pharmacy service to designated wards as well as participation in routine pharmacy duties 
  • Facilitate medication assessment and responsible for the provision of quality pharmaceutical care to patients.
  • Dispensing and recording of inpatient, outpatient, discharge, Emergency Department and staff prescriptions 
  • Dispensing of clinical trial medications in accordance with the trial protocol 
  • Supply and procure accountable (S4D and S8) and Special Access Scheme (SAS) medicines 
  • Actively participate in the reporting of adverse drug events including adverse drug reactions.
  • Promote antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) strategies 

What you bring

  • Current registration as a Pharmacist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulatory Agency (AHPRA).
  • Recent demonstrated experience in hospital pharmacy or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work well under pressure to meet time constraints and to set work priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively to build and maintain effective working relationships with all members of the multidisciplinary team.
