About the role
 
At Calvary Central Districts Hospital, we are seeking a motivated and professional Ward Clerk to join our busy medical/surgical ward. The position is for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday day work.
 
Your duties will include:
 
  • Greet and direct patients, visitors, and hospital staff in a courteous and professional manner.

  • Answer and manage incoming calls and inquiries for the ward.

  • Maintain accurate patient records, including admission, discharge, and transfer documentation.

  • Update electronic medical records and paper files as required.

  • Schedule appointments, tests, and procedures in coordination with clinical staff.

  • Liaise with other hospital departments such as radiology, pharmacy, and housekeeping.

  • Ensure all clerical supplies are stocked and ordered as needed.

  • Assist in preparing patient charts and maintaining ward filing systems.

  • Process incoming and outgoing mail and internal correspondence.

  • Ensure confidentiality and security of patient information in compliance with hospital policies and regulations.

  • Support the nursing and medical staff with administrative duties as needed.

Qualifications and skills
  • Previous experience in a healthcare or administrative role is preferred.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and electronic health record systems.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, sensitive environment with a high level of accuracy.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology is an advantage.
