- This is a 7 day 24-hour rotating roster position with the Support Services at the Calvary Mater Newcastle.
- Remuneration: $32.10816 per hour + shift penalties
- Salary Classification: Health and Security Assistant
About the role
The role of the Health and Security Assistant is to provide support across the hospital, working 7 day a week 24 hour rotating roster. The Health and Security Assistant provides non clinical care to a variety of areas, including but not limited to:
- To assist nursing staff in patient care
- To transport patients for admissions and discharge
- To attend all emergency codes
- To attend to mortuary duties
- To assist security staff in code black situations
- To be on call for cleaning of discharge beds as required on night duty
- To attend to ICU on night work, weekends and public holidays or when there are no ICU Technicians available
The rotating roster works 8 hour shifts over a 24/7 period. The shift times are:
Day shift 0600 - 1400
Afternoon shift 1400 - 2200
Night shift 2200 - 0600
Key Responsibilities
- Work with the existing team as the permanent full time holiday reliever
- Transportation of patients throughout the Wards/Departments.
- Respond and fulfil your role in all emergency codes
- Discharge of patient to appropriate pickup areas (as per hospital policy).
- Assist ICU/Theatre staff with patient care, weekends/public holidays and out of normal hours for Technical Assistants.
- Demonstrated flexibility that meets changing needs of unit or work environment.
- Maintains harmonious relations with hospital staff by behaving in a professional manner and displaying a non-confrontational manner.
What you bring
- Current NSW Security License.
- Senior First Aid Certificate.
- Working With Children Check (WWCC).
