About the role
Reporting to the Executive Chef, the Sous Chef will supervise the shift operations and ensure meals are served at an exceptional standard. The Sou Chef will assist in maximising patient satisfaction whilst maintaining Food Safety Standards, supporting the Executive Chef with menu planning, inventory management, food preparation and people leadership. The Sous Chef will be responsible for overseeing the kitchen at Calvary North Adelaide Hospital in the absence of the Executive Chef. This is a full time position involving regular weekend work and public holidays.
Main duties will include:
- Assisting in the daily preparation of daily meals
- Assisting staff in their daily work
- Staff supervision and mentoring
- Be a key driver in the standards and quality level the kitchen produces and achieves
- Adhere to WHS guidelines and practices while monitoring staff adherence
Desirable Criteria:
- Fully qualified Chef with leadership experience
- Ability to create exceptional quality food across the catering spectrum including, function work and celebration days
- Previous experience in Health Care or Aged Care an advantage
- Be food proud and own your dishes
- Have a firm understanding of the Food Standards and how to maintain a Food Safety Program
