About the role
Calvary Kooyong is a brand new site located in Caulfield. The precinct co-locates Calvary Bethlehem Hospital, a residential aged care facility, Huntly Suites, and an independent living facility, Hyson Apartments. Calvary Bethlehem is a 32-bed health care facility providing a range of inpatient, community and ambulatory services for palliative care and progressive neurological conditions.

Palliative Specialist – Calvary Health Care Bethlehem
Fixed term role for six weeks leave cover from 22 December to 30 January 2026. 20 hours per week (2.5 days).
Bethlehem Hospital is seeking applications from Palliative Care Specialists to provide leave cover for six weeks.
Responsibilities include providing Inpatient Palliative Care Unit ward cover, some cross cover into community, and participation in a 1 in 6 second on-call roster. You will work as part of an experienced multidisciplinary team with a second ward consultant, a full-time Advanced Physician Trainee in Palliative Medicine, a resident, and two interns.
As a member of the interdisciplinary team across all settings, you will provide specialist palliative medicine support to ensure compassionate, patient-centred care in a safe and effective manner, in line with the mission, vision and values of Calvary Health Care Bethlehem.
What you bring
• Previous or current palliative care experience across a wide range of settings
• Excellent communication skills – written, verbal and IT
• Strong organisational and time management skills to prioritise workload, work flexibly and delegate responsibility
• Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients
• Willingness to undergo a National Police Record Check and/or a Working With Children Check in line with CHCB policy
Essential qualifications
• Medical qualification in Palliative Medicine (FRACP and/or FAChPM)
• Current Australian medical registration
• Credentials for the position
• Relevant clinical experience and clinical competence for the level of the position
• Experience supporting and supervising junior medical staff
• Demonstrated ability to practice collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary health care team
• Effective organisational skills with respect to time management and delegation
