About the role

The Accounts Receivable Officer is responsible for the accurate and timely billing of patient accounts across health funds and third-party providers following discharge. Reporting to the Accounts Receivable Supervisor / Patient Services Manager, this role also includes the follow-up of outstanding debts and the processing of patient receipts. It requires regular liaison with health funds and third-party organisations to ensure accounts are reviewed, reconciled, and finalised efficiently.

This position requires a high level of accuracy, efficiency, and attention to detail within the Patient Services Department. The Accounts Receivable Officer works closely with the Supervisor to support financial business operations and contributes to the achievement of hospital goals by working in a collaborative, effective, and quality-focused manner.

The successful candidate will be mature, proactive, and possess exceptional customer service and communication skills, with a positive, can-do attitude. The role requires the ability to exercise empathy, sound judgment, and discretion, while managing multiple tasks independently with minimal supervision.

About you
  • Strong clerical and administrative skills, complemented by well-developed interpersonal abilities.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills, with a professional and courteous phone manner.
  • Demonstrated computer literacy, including accurate and efficient keyboard skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Proven ability to plan, prioritise, and manage workload with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
