As the Accountant for Calvary John James Hospital, you will play a key role in supporting strategic financial leadership across the organisation. This position is central to ensuring the effective deployment, management, and control of the Hospital’s finances and resources, enabling the achievement of operational and strategic objectives.
You will be responsible for delivering accurate financial information and insightful advice to stakeholders, implementing robust financial processes, and maintaining full compliance with reporting standards and audit requirements. The role ensures that all financial services are delivered efficiently, effectively, and on time, contributing to strong governance and informed decision-making across the Hospital.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with financial internal control processes, including delegations of authority and EFT payments.
- Track and analyse business costs—particularly staffing and supply expenses—and provide advice to Executives and Managers to support cost minimisation.
- Maintain the fixed asset register and provide support to Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions.
- Prepare monthly financial reports, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger/balance sheet controls.
- Deliver accurate and timely daily, weekly, and monthly management reports, forecasts, statistical data, and related analyses.
- Degree in accounting, commerce, or economics; CPA/CA preferred.
- Strong financial accounting, analysis, budgeting, asset management, and commercial acumen.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively with clinical, support, and management staff.
- Solid understanding of financial systems, industry practices, financial management principles, and Accounting Standards.
- High attention to detail, data accuracy, and strong financial reporting capability.
- Proven ability to prioritise tasks, manage deadlines, and deliver high-quality work.
- Advanced Finance One and Excel/Access skills, including data manipulation and macros.
- Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities for improvement and implement system and process changes.
