About the role

Calvary Bruce Private Hospital (CBPH) is one of the Capitals leading private healthcare providers featuring eight state-of-the-art digitally integrated theatres, including a hybrid Cath lab as well as the only dedicated adult private mental health facility in the ACT. Calvary Bruce Private Hospital runs the Calvary One Plus Graduate Nurse Transition Program (GNTP), a national program that supports the individual in developing principles of clinical practice that promote the transference of knowledge , skills and behaviour for life- long learning. through support and reflection, the program will empower the individual to make well informed evidence based decisions throughout their career. The twelve month practice- based program enables Graduates to learn the essential knowledge , skills and attitudes in a supportive environment in a variety of clinical settings throughout the organisation.

The GNTP is in keeping with Calvary's values of Hospitality, Healing, Stewardship and Respect. In practice Calvary recognises the worth of the individual, acknowledges talents and skills by providing support, education and mentoring to foster atmosphere of 'Being for Others'.

Our program consists of 2 x 6 month rotations over the year through medical, surgical wards and mental health wards. 

Important Dates

Commencement July, 2025

You will be provided with;

- A dedicated New Graduate Coordinator will support you through the 12 month program 

- Two Graduate study days

- Graduate nurse devoted education sessions

- Supernumerary shifts on each rotation 

- Access to scholarships for post graduate study

What you bring 

  • Registered as an Enrolled Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA)

  • Demonstrated effective communication, organisational and interpersonal skills. 

  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously as well as a member of a multi disciplinary team.

  • Demonstrated ability to utilise the Nursing Process in the provision of safe, evidence based nursing care to patients in an acute care environment.

  • Participation in ongoing professional development of self and others.

  • Australian or NZ citizenship or capacity to work permanently in Australia.

  • A desire to join a team committed to the care of others in a mission based organization.

Your application, addressed to the Graduate Coordinator- Vanessa Grosse will include:

- Your resume (no more than 2 pages)

- Your current unofficial transcript 

- ANSAT reports or equivalent with the Clinical Facilitators feedback.  IF not available, please provide two most recent clinical placement experience assessments. 

- At least two referees with a minimum of one clinical referee. Please note we will conduct referee check post interview. 

- A cover letter of no more than 1 page responding to the following four Questions. Please provide specific examples to support your claims in your response.

1. Why you want to participate in the Calvary One plus Graduate Nurse Transition Program at CBPH? 

2. How do you ensure our practice is of the highest standard?

3. Describe a time when you used well developed communication and interpersonal skills to contribute to an effective team.

4. Describe a time in which you were able to assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care.
