About the role
 
As the Assistant Accountant, you will provide support to the Finance team at Calvary Aged Care Limited (CACL) and assist with financial accounting-related deliverables.
Whilst delivering support to the Finance team, the role will help with periodic reporting and assist with month-end, bank reconciliation, financial analysis, statutory compliance and administrative support to the wider finance team.
The Assistant Accountant will provide support to financial-related projects and comply with internal and external auditing principals ensuring accuracy and periodic timelines are met.
 
Your main duties will include:
 

Professional:

  • Assist in the preparation, maintenance and reconciliation of accounts, including RAD’s, DAP’s, bank account and general ledger accounts.
  • Prepare accruals as required, in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Assist with workers' compensation reporting, including premium calculations and salary/wage submissions.
  • Assist in preparation and analysis of benchmarking for submission to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare and support statutory, prudential, and financial reporting, ensuring accurate documentation, reliable data, and meaningful financial analysis.
  • Maintain robust quality assurance and review processes to ensure reports provided to senior management and the National Finance Team are accurate, compliant, and fit for purpose.
  • Maintenance of asset register, and perform other duties and tasks as directed by Finance Management

 

About you
  • Previous experience in a similar position
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with Finance Systems and strong Excel capability
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards

Desirable

  • Experience in a Financial Accounting role
  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Commerce, or a related business discipline, or near completion of a degree in one of these fields.
