About the role

Calvary Mater Newcastle is seeking a motivated and detail-focused Cashier (Finance Officer) to join our Finance Department.

This role supports the hospital’s financial operations through cashiering services, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processing, and general finance and patient services administration.

Working within a collaborative Finance and Patient Services team, the successful candidate will contribute to the accurate and timely processing of financial transactions and delivery of high-quality service to staff, patients and external stakeholders.

This is an onsite role providing strong exposure to hospital finance operations and opportunities for professional development

Your main duties will include:

  • Receipt and process payments in accordance with NSW Health financial policies
  • Prepare and reconcile daily banking
  • Assist with Accounts Payable including invoice coding, data entry and supplier enquiries
  • Assist with Accounts Receivable including debtor invoicing and follow-up
  • Maintain financial registers and documentation
  • Support month-end finance activities and reconciliations
  • Provide professional customer service
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives

Selection Criteria:

  • Demonstrated experience in finance administration, including cashiering and accounts support functions
  • Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
  • Proven ability to manage workload effectively and meet deadlines
  • Well‑developed communication and customer service skills
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team

Desirable Criteria:

• Demonstrated experience in Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable.
• Demonstrated experience with TechnologyOne/Finance One or similar ERP.
• Demonstrated experience in healthcare or public sector.
• Understanding of GST and basic accounting.

Employment details:

Salary Classification:  Administration Officer Level 3 Year 1-2 

Remuneration: $35.84 to $36.96 per hour + super + annual leave loading
