About the role
 
The position of Chef is responsible for planning and the preparation of meals. This role will also ensure that food is prepared and presented in accordance with the relevant guidelines and legislation to provide a quality service that meets our resident's needs.
 
Working in a safe and efficient manner, the primary purpose of this position is to provide catering services to residents and leadership to staff ensuring a high quality of lifestyle for our residents, compliance with legislation and a continuation of our high standards.
 
The Chef is responsible for quality and output of meals and food services to create unique and interesting dining experience as well as safety and training of kitchen staff , regarding their work functions, hygiene and good relations. 
 
Additionally, the Chef will have a pro-active approach to safety and ensure full utilisation of all the safety equipment and procedures provided by Calvary. 
 
About you
  • Knowledge of nutritional requirements 
  • Ability to plan menus to meet standards e.g. Food Act and Occupational Health and Safety 
  • Ability to order food to meet requirements of menu cycle and keep within budged
  • Understanding of infection control and safety principles
  • Good communication skills and understanding of the needs of elderly people
  • Ability to safely operate kitchen equipment , e.g. stoves , ovens ect. 
  • Completion of HACCP Food Safety Program (or willingness to obtain) 
  • TAFE Hospitality (Commercial Cookery) or Certificate 111 in Food Studies (or working towards)
