About the role
Calvary Bruce Private Hospital is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Mental Health Clinical Development Nurse (CDN) to join our dedicated Hyson Green Mental Health team. This role offers a unique opportunity to combine advanced clinical practice with education, mentoring and leadership to support the growth of our nursing workforce and the delivery of exceptional patient-centred care.
As the Mental Health CDN, you will be a clinical expert, mentor and educator, working collaboratively with nursing staff, students, graduates and multidisciplinary teams to strengthen capability, improve patient outcomes and foster a culture of continuous learning and excellence.
Key Responsibilities
In this rewarding role you will:
- Provide advanced clinical leadership and expert support within mental health nursing practice.
- Mentor, coach and support nursing staff, students and graduate nurses.
- Coordinate and support preceptorship programs, ensuring meaningful feedback and development opportunities.
- Identify learning needs and develop education strategies to enhance clinical capability across the unit.
- Collaborate with Learning & Development teams to deliver education programs and competency-based training.
- Lead and support quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits and accreditation activities.
- Promote evidence-based practice, clinical research and continuous improvement.
- Support staff orientation, professional development planning and performance growth.
- Act as a clinical resource and team leader when required.
About you

To be successful in this role, you will bring:Essential RequirementsHighly Desirable
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with AHPRA.

Minimum 5 years' post-graduate consistence experience in Mental Health Nursing.
- Demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge and clinical problem-solving skills in mental health practice.
- Postgraduate qualifications in Mental Health Nursing.
- Proven ability to deliver compassionate, patient and family-centred care.
- Experience contributing to quality improvement initiatives, clinical research and policy development.
- Strong communication, leadership and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience in education, preceptorship and mentoring of nursing staff and students.
- Knowledge and application of NSQHS Standards (Version 2).
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Experience in clinical auditing, quality programs and service improvement initiatives.
- Strong computer literacy and documentation skills.
- Ability to positively influence clinical practice and support team development.
