We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and dynamic leader to join our team at Calvary Adelaide Hospital as the Clinical Manager of South Australia’s only private 24/7 Emergency Department. The Emergency Department at Calvary Adelaide Hospital is a busy, state-of-the-art facility featuring a beautiful environment, brand new technology and servicing the entire Adelaide community. The Clinical Manager of the ED will be fortunate to work with Care 24-7, a progressive and supportive partner to Calvary, whose emergency specialists achieve exceptional patient satisfaction ratings.

As the Clinical Manager you will be responsible for the operational and clinical management of the Emergency Department, coordinating the activity of the nursing staff and associated resources. Along with the Medical Director of the ED the Nurse Manager is responsible for ensuring that there is efficient and transparent management, coordination- and leadership of the ED team, so they can provide evidence-based and high quality patient care.

About the role

The Clinical Manager is actively involved in the day to day running of the ED, working collaboratively with their team of nurses, support services and Care 24-7’s emergency specialists to ensure high quality patient-centred care is delivered at all times. The Clinical Manager will also work with key stakeholders outside of the Calvary group to secure long-lasting partnerships into the future.

The role is responsible for the ongoing development of unit-based activities and resources that result in the continual development and maintenance of standards of safe practice and the delivery of comprehensive nursing care by managing the following:

  • Coordinated patient care and services to deliver the best patient outcomes and satisfaction ratings;
  • A programme of continual staff education;
  • Managing clinical risk through following and maintaining clinical guidelines and policies and ongoing development of high-quality skilled nursing workforce;
  • Maintaining a nursing budget

What you bring 

  • An empathy-driven approach to leadership and values alignment with Calvary and Care 24-7;
  • Emergency Department Management experience (or similar management of a Critical Care department) 
  • Graduate Diploma in Emergency Nursing or Critical Care Nursing;
  • AHPRA Registration;
  • Ability to work unsupervised, with a calm and proficient approach and the ability to work in an organised manner during periods of high demand and activity;
  • Creativity and vision to propose new initiatives and/or change existing programs to meet future organisational and employee needs;
  • Demonstrated communication, interpersonal skills and customer service skills;
  • A desire to join a team committed to the care of others in a mission-based organisation;
  • Previous successful experience with developing people and managing financial resources; 
  • The ability to lead a team through change.
