About the role
This is an exciting opportunity for an Registered Nurse to professionally develop their skills, knowledge and expertise in Ophthalmology surgery. Working collaboratively with all members of the peri-operative and broader hospital team, supporting the Perioperative Services Manager to facilitate excellence and quality in patient focused care, through proactive leadership and innovative strategic planning aligned to best practice in Ophthalmology.
Your main duties will include:
- Competence in basic nursing practice and providing direct care in more complex nursing care situations
- Collaborate and work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Provide education and training in Ophthalmology perioperative skills to the theatre team
- Delegate, direct & supervise aspects of care to others according to their competence and scope of practice
- Accurate and timely clinical and administration documentation.
- Provide clinical support for education, knowledge and skills-based training
- Actively participate in quality improvement activities and monitoring
- Work closely with Ophthalmology VMOs on preferences
- Management of equipment, inventory and key liaison with medical representatives/companies
- Commitment to ongoing professional development
About you
- Registration with AHPRA and in possession of a current practising certificate
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
- Has recent experience in Ophthalmology
- Ability to work with within a team and establish a positive team culture
- Demonstrated decision making and delegation skills
- Ability to work with key stakeholders
