• $109.96 per hour + applicable loadings + superannuation + salary packaging options
• Fixed-Term (12 months)/Part-Time (32 hours per week). 

About the role:

The Research Fellow will develop clinical research projects, prepare publications, and participate in local/regional Cancer research committees.

Under the supervision of a clinical mentor, the Research fellow will participate in on-call rosters, and other haematology services as required by the Director of Clinical Haematology.

The role is intended for a Haematologist in their first Post-Fellowship year, seeking further research experience and a transitional role to unsupervised consultant practice.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervision of Junior Medical and Nursing staff. 
• Involvement in Haematology Laboratory and Clinical Management Team.
• Maintenance of clear, precise and accurate medical records including coding for DRGs.
• Participate in the development of innovative programs in both the delivery of care and clinical training.
• Attendance at Outreach Clinics in Greater Newcastle and in country centres as designated by the hospital (such as Tamworth or Taree).

What you bring:

• A primary medical degree registrable with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
• Eligibility for Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) and/or equivalent specialist recognition as provided for in the Enterprise Agreement or the Health Insurance Act 1973.
• Eligibility for Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (FRCPA) and/or equivalent specialist recognition as provided for in the Enterprise Agreement or the Health Insurance Act 1973.
• Clinical inpatient, outpatient and laboratory experience in Haematology.
• Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work proficiently unsupervised and as a member of a multidisciplinary team during periods of high demand and activity in an organised manner.
