Calvary Riverina Hospital provides a range of services to the Riverina community. This includes our Surgicentre, Drug and Alcohol Centre as well as our maternity and women's health services.

About the role

Calvary Riverina Hospital are looking for an enthusiastic Cook with a passion for the hospitality industry to join our busy team on a casual (as needed basis).

The role of the Cook is to assist in delivering a positive outcome for patients at Calvary Riverina Hospital within the scope of Food Services. The Cook will focus on production of meals to cater for in house patients, staff and visitors, Stock Control, Food & Workplace Safety, providing a high standard of quality food production as well as ensuring compliance with local and National Food Safety requirements. The cook will adhere to any additional requirements and requests as directed by head Chef or Hospitality Services Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the catering service to meet patients food requirements. This will include food preparation, food storage, food hygiene, distribution and serving meals.
  • This position is specialising in modified foods, and taking it to the next level.
  • Follow written protocols for special dietary requests.
  • Assist with the preparation of the menus.
  • Work with the food safety plan and legislative guidelines.
  • Adhere to infection control, manual handling, WHS procedures.
  • Maintain efficient and open communication.

What you bring 

  • 5 years of relevant industry experience
  • Certificate 3 in Commercial Cookery is desirable
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively
  • Experience in a Hospital based kitchen setting is desirable
  • A desire to join a team committed to the care of others in a mission based organisation
