About the role
 
Calvary Sandhurst is currently looking for a Cook to join our team on Permanent Part-Time basis. The cook is responsible for planning and the preparation of meals. This role will also ensure that food is prepared and presented in accordance with the relevant guidelines and legislation to provide a quality service that meets our resident’s needs.

We require a cook to work Saturday and Sunday- 07:00AM-15:00PM .

 
Your main duties will include:
  • Assist with the catering service to meet resident’s food requirements. This will include food preparation, food storage, food hygiene, distribution and serving meals.
  • This position is specialising in modified foods, and taking it to the next level.
  • Follow written protocols for special dietary requests.
  • Assist with the preparation of the menus.
  • Work with the food safety plan and legislative guidelines.
  • Adhere to infection control, manual handling, WHS procedures.
  • Maintain efficient and open communication.
About you
  • Relevant experience within an aged care environment is essential to be considered for this role. 
  • Mandatory NDIS clearance check or willing to obtain one
  • TAFE Hospitality (Commercial Cookery) or Certificate Level III in Food Studies (or working towards).
  • Experience in bulk cooking and food preparation.
  • Knowledge of nutritional requirements.
  • Understanding of infection control and safety principles.
  • Good communication skills and understanding of the needs of elderly people.
  • Ability to safely operate kitchen equipment, e.g. stoves, ovens etc.
  • Completion of HACCP Food Safety Program (or willingness to obtain).
