Dietitian Assistant

  • Permanent part time role
  • Salary Classification: Allied Health Assistant Level 2 (year 1-3) /  Level 3 (year 1-3)
  • Remuneration: $32.58 - $36.02 per hour + superannuation + annual leave loading + salary packaging options

 

The Dietitian Assistant will be a key member of the Nutrition and Dietetics Department at the Calvary Nater Newcastle. The Dietitian Assistant will work closely with Dietitians and Food Services to meet the needs of patients requiring therapeutic diet support. The Dietitian Assistant will work a 0.5FTE rotating roster which includes weekends and public holidays.

Your main duties will include:

 

  • Assisting the clinical dietitian with implementation and monitoring of prescribed nutrition care plans.
  • Applying clinical nutrition  / therapeutic diet protocols as delegated by the supervising dietitian
  • Facilitating access to food and fluids for patients on therapeutic diets and communicating with relevant health service personnel to ensure patients are provided the correct diet

ABOUT YOU:

  • Have completed  Certificate III in Nutrition & Dietary Practices or equivalent qualification OR has a Certificate III or IV in Allied Health Assistance (Nutrition & Dietetics) OR has a nutrition undergraduate qualification
  • Ability to work a rotating roster including weekends and public holidays
  • Demonstrated knowledge to assist in the provision of nutrition support, and be committed to learning and safe delivery of nutrition care
  • Demonstrated excellent communication, interpersonal and organisation skills and attention to detail
  • Previous experience as a dietitian assistant or hospital health care worker
