About the role
Calvary is seeking an experienced and strategic Director, Quality and Safety – Hospitals to join our National Clinical Governance team. This pivotal leadership role is responsible for driving excellence in clinical governance, with a strong focus on clinical incident management, consumer experience, and quality improvement across our national hospital network.
As a trusted advisor, you will partner with hospital executives and clinical leaders to strengthen safety culture, ensure compliance with NSQHS standards, and translate insights from incidents into meaningful, system-wide improvements that enhance patient outcomes.
Your main duties will include:
- Leading national clinical governance initiatives, including incident management and quality improvement programs
- Supporting and advising hospital quality and leadership teams on safety, compliance and continuous improvement
- Guiding serious incident reviews, including root cause analysis, and translating findings into system-wide improvements
- Monitoring and reporting on quality indicators and contributing to national governance reporting
- Strengthening capability across sites through mentoring, education and shared learning initiatives
About you
- You are a collaborative and influential clinical governance leader with strong experience in hospital environments.
- You bring expertise in incident investigation, quality systems, and stakeholder engagement, along with a passion for improving patient safety and care outcomes.
- You will also have a tertiary qualification in a healthcare-related field, along with demonstrated experience in clinical governance leadership roles
This is a full-time role, based in Melbourne, Canberra or Sydney, with some travel required across our hospital network.
