2026 Student Nurse Internship Program – Calvary in Hobart, Tasmania

Are you a motivated nursing student eager to develop your skills, a strong sense of values, and make a difference in your community?

Commencing February 2026 – expected end date December 2026
Please note that this is a voluntary, unpaid internship and does not constitute paid employment.

Calvary in Hobart, in partnership with the University of Tasmania, is delighted to once again offer the Student Nurse Internship Program for 2026. This popular program aims to support Bachelor of Nursing students as they transition from study to becoming registered nurses, providing guidance, mentorship, and hands-on experience within a professional healthcare environment.

This internship program is unpaid. Participation does not qualify as paid employment with Calvary. It is intended as a learning and development opportunity to help students build their professional skills and experience.

What the program offers

  • Two Clinical Professional Experience Placements (PEP) at Calvary in Hobart commencing February 2026
  • Ongoing support, mentorship, and performance feedback from experienced clinical teams
  • No extra coursework, but with the added benefit of being part of the Internship Program.
  • Upon successful completion of the internship program, gain direct entry into the 2027 Calvary Hobart Graduate Nurse Transition Program (GNTP).

Eligibility

A current University of Tasmania Bachelor of Nursing student enrolled in either:

  • First year of the 2-year accelerated program, OR
  • Second year of the 3-year program (H3N) and due to complete NUR358 and NUR359 placements in 2026.
  • An Australian citizen, permanent resident, or holder of a valid visa with full working rights in Australia.

  • The intern will not receive any wages, salary, or financial compensation for the duration of the placement. The purpose of this internship is solely educational, and the intern is expected to benefit primarily from the learning experience
