About Calvary Health Care Bethlehem – Caulfield, Victoria
Calvary Health Care Bethlehem (CHCB) is a 32 bed public hospital / health care facility providing a range of inpatient, community and ambulatory services for palliative care and progressive neurological conditions. CHCB is also an NDIS service provider. We are located centrally in metropolitan Melbourne at our new state of the art hospital and health care precinct in Caulfield.
About the role
We have a fixed term hospital based Speech Pathology clinical role available in our inpatient/outpatient hospital based multidisciplinary team. You will also gain valuable experience through involvement in our specialist speech pathology clinics including videofluoroscopy, voice banking, assistive technology and social communication group program. All team members receive regular 1:1 and group supervision and access to professional development, as well as opportunities to participate in departmental quality improvement activities, research, and education provision.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide Speech Pathology services across inpatient and outpatient service streams
- Provide assessment and treatment for patients with communication and swallowing clinical presentations associated with progressive neurological and palliative conditions
Our service streams include:
- Inpatient service: 32 bed ward with a mix of progressive neurology and palliative care beds
- Hospital based Outpatients - Statewide Progressive Neurological Disease Service: Specialist interdisciplinary assessment and management service for people with a diagnosed progressive neurological disease such as Motor Neurone Disease, Huntington’s Disease, Muscular Dystrophy, Multiple Sclerosis and Parkinsonian Syndromes
- NDIS provider Service: providing a range of allied health therapies and Specialist Behaviour Support, delivered across metropolitan Melbourne to adult participants under 65 years old with progressive neurological condition.
What you bring
- Eligibility for membership with Speech Pathology Australia
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a multi-disciplinary team
- Hospital experience is preferred
- Dysphagia management experience is essential
- Videofluoroscopy experience preferred
- Experience with AAC and multi-modal communication is desirable.
- Current clinical knowledge and critical thinking ability in the field of progressive neurology and/ or palliative care is desirable
