About the role
 

The Head of Commercial – Clinical Services provides senior clinical leadership at the intersection of clinical care, operational performance, and commercial sustainability.

The role translates clinical strategy into measurable improvements in service efficiency, resource utilisation, activity performance, and patient outcomes, ensuring high-quality care is delivered in a financially sustainable and operationally efficient way.

Working closely with the Head of Commercial and Partnerships and the executive leadership team, the role ensures clinical decision-making and service delivery are aligned with activity targets, funding models, demand pressures, and system capacity, while maintaining patient safety and quality standards.

It acts as a key bridge between clinical, operational, and commercial priorities, ensuring clinical excellence is embedded within sustainable, performance-driven models of care.

 
Your main duties will include:
  • Translate organisational strategy into clinically safe, operationally efficient, and commercially sustainable models of care aligned with funding and performance frameworks
  • Provide senior clinical advice on strategic and commercial initiatives, including feasibility, impact assessment, and balancing quality, demand, capacity, and cost pressures
  • Lead clinical input into service redesign to improve capacity utilisation and reduce waste
  • Redesign and streamline care pathways across acute, subacute, and community settings to improve flow and reduce duplication
  • Optimise models of care, including patient flow and workforce deployment, to improve efficiency and outcomes
  • Partner with finance, operations, and clinical teams to drive cost-effectiveness, demand management, and capacity planning
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with senior clinicians, operational leaders, and executive stakeholders
  • Engage clinicians in performance improvement initiatives that link clinical outcomes, operational performance, and financial sustainability, ensuring alignment between frontline practice and executive priorities
 
About you
  • Registered health professional with significant clinical experience in acute hospital or health service environments
  • Proven senior clinical leadership experience within complex healthcare systems
  • Strong understanding of hospital operations including patient flow, capacity management, and service delivery
  • Demonstrated ability to link clinical practice with performance, efficiency, and financial outcomes
  • Experience with hospital funding models (e.g. activity-based funding) and revenue drivers
  • Strong capability in clinical governance, quality improvement, and patient safety
  • Proven ability to influence executives and senior clinicians in complex environments
  • Demonstrated experience in service redesign, transformation, or hospital performance improvement
