Maternity Hospital Assistant
Our busy maternity unit is looking for a reliable and organised Maternity Hospital Assistant to provide essential non‑clinical support to our team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a healthcare environment but prefers duties that are administrative, logistical, and cleaning‑focused rather than hands‑on patient care. 4-hour shifts Monday to Friday times negotiable
About the Role
As a Maternity Hospital Assistant, you’ll help keep the unit running smoothly by ensuring our spaces, supplies, and administrative processes are well maintained. Your work supports midwives, nurses, and families by creating a clean, safe, and efficient environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene across maternity rooms, communal areas, and workstations in line with hospital standards.
- Restock supplies and equipment, including linen, consumables, and essential items for clinical staff.
- Prepare rooms for new admissions, ensuring they are tidy, organised, and fully equipped.
- Assist with administrative tasks, such as filing, data entry, printing, and supporting ward clerks as needed.
- Manage deliveries and stock rotation, ensuring items are stored correctly and inventory levels are maintained.
- Support staff with non‑clinical tasks, such as transporting equipment, collecting items from other departments, and general ward organisation.
- Respond to requests from the maternity team to help keep workflows smooth and efficient.
- Uphold safety and infection‑control procedures at all times.
What We’re Looking For:
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A proactive, helpful attitude
- Experience in cleaning, hospitality, administration, or hospital support roles is an advantage
- Commitment to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for families
