About the role

Calvary Health Care is seeking an experienced and motivated Clinical Nurse RN2 to join our dynamic Perioperative Services team at Calvary Adelaide Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled perioperative nurse to take on a key coordination role within a busy and high-acuity surgical environment.

Working within the Admission and Stage 2 Discharge areas, you will play an integral role in ensuring the safe, efficient and patient-centred flow of patients through the perioperative journey. You will provide clinical leadership, coordinate day-to-day operations and support staff to deliver high-quality care while maintaining smooth operational outcomes across the department.

This role is ideal for a proactive clinician who thrives in a fast-paced environment, demonstrates strong leadership capabilities and enjoys working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Your main duties will include

  • Coordinating the daily operations of Admission and Stage 2 Discharge services during allocated shifts
  • Providing clinical leadership and support to nursing staff within the perioperative environment
  • Allocating and adjusting staffing and resources to meet changing clinical and operational demands
  • Acting as the first point of escalation for operational, staffing and clinical concerns
  • Supporting patient flow to ensure safe, timely and efficient admissions and discharges
  • Collaborating closely with anaesthetists, surgeons, theatre staff and ward teams to ensure continuity of care
  • Promoting and maintaining best practice standards, clinical governance and patient safety initiatives
  • Assisting with staff mentoring, orientation and ongoing support within the team
  • Contributing to a positive workplace culture focused on teamwork, professionalism and compassionate care

About you

The successful applicant will demonstrate a commitment to clinical excellence and patient-centred care, with the ability to confidently lead and coordinate within a busy perioperative setting.

You will also bring:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA
  • Recent perioperative and/or Stage 2 recovery experience
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate workflow and manage competing priorities
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Strong clinical assessment and decision-making capabilities
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • A collaborative approach and commitment to working within a multidisciplinary team
  • Previous leadership or shift coordination experience will be highly regarded
